Speeding alerts: automatic evidence the moment a car crosses 85 mph
A car that comes back with damage and a guest who insists they “were just driving normally” is a dispute you usually can’t win on your word alone. Turo doesn’t track a car’s speed, and by the time damage shows up at drop-off, there’s nothing on the record connecting it to how the car was actually driven.
TuroVA now closes that gap. If a car is paired to a Bouncie GPS tracker, TuroVA checks its speed against every trip automatically, and the moment it goes over 85 mph, TuroVA posts straight into that trip’s Turo conversation with the car’s exact top speed — on the record, timestamped, and visible to both you and the guest.
How it works
Once a trip’s return window has passed, TuroVA pulls the car’s Bouncie trip data for that rental and checks the highest speed it recorded. If that peak was over 85 mph, a message like “Speed 91” is posted directly into the reservation’s Turo conversation — the same thread you and the guest already use for everything else about that trip.
Evidence, not just an alert
A push notification tells you something happened; a message inside the actual Turo trip is something you can point to. If a car comes back with damage that lines up with hard driving, that post is already sitting in the conversation history — no need to have caught it in real time, dug through a separate GPS app, or taken the guest’s word for how fast they were going.
The speeding post lives inside the trip itself, not in a separate app you have to remember to check.
Turned on per car
Posting to Turo is opt-in: on the Telematics page, each paired car has its own “Post Speeding to Turo” toggle, plus one header toggle to turn it on for every paired car at once. A push notification to you still fires the moment a car goes over 85 mph either way — posting into the trip itself is the part you choose per car.
